Arthur S. and Iris G. McFee Scholarship Fund
Dr. McFee fondly remembers his experiences at Deering High School, where he received a first-rate education as a member of the Class of 1949. He and Mrs. McFee established this scholarship to support graduating seniors at Deering who are pursuing post-secondary education at a college or university.

Ann Mason-Osann Scholarship Fund
The friends and family of Ann Mason-Osann established this scholarship to honor her memory and celebrate her love of music. Eligible applicants are Gorham High School graduating seniors pursuing post-secondary education in music and Westbrook High School graduating seniors pursuing post-secondary education in fine arts. Scholarships will be awarded to students continuing their education in these fields, but they do not necessarily have to major in either field.

Berkeley-Hutchins Scholarship Fund
Established in 2015, the Berkeley-Hutchins Scholarship Award was established to benefit a graduating senior from Greely High School who is pursuing a post-secondary education at a four-year college or university. The award honors two very special members of the Greely academic and athletic staffs, Gladys Berkeley and Glenn Hutchins. Selection will be based on: academic achievement, athletic achievement in at least two sports, financial need, intellectual curiosity and a love of reading.

Billy Brown Sports Award
Billy Brown graduated from Cape Elizabeth High School in 1981. He was a passionate athlete both on and off the field. He was a big fan and supporter of all Cape Elizabeth sports. After graduating CEHS, Billy went on to coach baseball and softball at Yarmouth Middle School and soccer at Portland High School. With the same spirit and passion with which Billy always embraced sports, his family and friends have created this award for a deserving Yarmouth student. The purpose of this award is to celebrate a graduating senior who clearly demonstrates a passion for sports through participation as an athlete, manager or mascot while at Yarmouth High School. The position held and individual sports are not as important as the student’s enthusiasm and commitment – a student who is there “for the love of it.” Eligible nominees are hard-working students who have achieved a consistent academic record. Nominations are invited from any coach working with students in the Athletic Program at Yarmouth High School.

Brant Williams Memorial Scholarship Fund
The Brant Williams Memorial Scholarship Fund was established by his family and friends to support Harpswell residents who are graduating seniors at Mt. Ararat High School pursuing post-secondary education at a college, university or other educational source of general equivalency. Preference will be given to eligible applicants pursuing studies in a technical field such as boat building, drafting, electronics, graphic design and information technology.

Connie Davis Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established in 1994, the Connie Davis Memorial Scholarship Fund provides scholarship assistance to scholastically and morally worthy young members of the Woodfords Congregational Church in Portland who seek support for post-secondary education.

Don and Barbara Doane Music Scholarship Fund
The Don and Barbara Doane Music Scholarship was established to provide scholarship assistance to a graduating senior at Westbrook High School seeking post-secondary study. Preference will be given to those students pursuing music as a major or minor field of study.

The Daniel S. Clark Scholarship Fund supports graduating special education seniors at Gorham High School in their pursuit of post-secondary education.

David K. Silverman Fund
The David K. Silverman Fund supports two graduating seniors at Portland High School who demonstrate both academic achievement and financial need. Buddy Silverman was a lifelong Portland resident who was devoted to family and friends. His wise and honest counsel was constantly sought. Buddy was actively involved in several family run enterprises including management of the Exchange Building in Portland's Old Port. For several decades he personally sustained the last remaining synagogue on Portland's peninsula, Congregation Etz Chaim. He established the David K. Silverman Fund at the Maine Community Foundation to benefit the institutions he and his family supported in life and to provide educational and economic opportunity for future generations.

Floyd F. and June F. Burrill Scholarship Fund
The Floyd F. and June F. Burrill Scholarship Fund was established in 2012 to benefit deserving high school students from Yarmouth, ME and Lincoln, ME who plan to attend colleges or technical schools located in Maine. The awards shall be given to students who have maintained a B or better average in high school, are of good moral character, and come from families with average or less than average incomes for the State of Maine. Assistance is for the first year of study.

Friends of PAE Beata Vest Scholarship Fund
The Maine Community Foundation partners with the Friends of Portland Adult Ed to provide scholarship support to an immigrant, refugee, or asylum-seeking student who shows perseverance and integrity in pursuing his or her college aspirations.

Georgette L. Flaherty Scholarship Fund
Hibbard Family Scholarship Fund
The Hibbard Family Scholarship Fund was established by Irving E. and Nancy W. Hibbard to honor their children, Julie and Stephen, both of whom graduated from Portland High School. The Fund will provide scholarship support to graduates of Portland High School who are pursuing post-secondary education :
1) One in support of graduates of Portland High School who are pursuing post-secondary education at a four-year liberal arts college or university. The scholarship is available to graduating seniors and is renewable for each post-graduate year. Portland High School graduates already attending college are also eligible. Eligible applicants are students who are passionate life-long learners who are able to articulate their demonstrated love of learning in the essay submitted with their application. They must have achieved a GPA of 88 or higher during their tenure at Portland High School.
2) One in support of graduates of Portland High School who are pursuing post-secondary education at Southern Maine Community College and who plan to major in the building trades. The scholarship is available to graduating seniors and is renewable for each post-graduate year. Portland High School graduates already attending SMCC are also eligible. Eligible applicants must have achieved a GPA of 80 or higher during their tenure at Portland High School.

Higgins Scholarship Fund
The Higgins Scholarship Fund was established under the terms of the last will and testament of Harlan B. Higgins in memory of his son, Kenneth Jordan Higgins. It supports the post-secondary education of needy or deserving graduating seniors residing in Portland, South Portland, Westbrook, Falmouth, Cape Elizabeth, and Scarborough, Maine. Awards will be determined based on an applicant’s financial need and likelihood of success at school, as evidenced by transcripts, letters of recommendation, and student essay. Students who make it through the initial screening process by the committee will be invited to an interview on a date to be determined. Applicants will be notified of their appointment time after the deadline. This scholarship was administered for many years by the United Way of Greater Portland and was voluntarily transferred to the Maine Community Foundation in 2017.

The Hollis Rescue, Inc. (1989-2004) Scholarship Fund supports a graduating senior at Bonny Eagle High School who is pursuing post-secondary education, preferably in healthcare.

The Horton-Ricker Educational Fund supports residents of Harrison under the age of 25 pursuing post-secondary education. There is a preference for students majoring in education.

The Irving and Dorothy Stetson Scholarship Fund was established in 2019 to provide scholarship assistance to graduating seniors at Brunswick High School, Morse High School, and Mt. Ararat High School.

Janet P. Magee Scholarship Fund
The Janet P. Magee Scholarship Fund was established in 2023 to support graduating, female seniors at Windham High School who are pursuing a post-secondary education. Preference will be given to applicants pursuing studies at either University of Southern Maine or Southern New Hampshire University. Selection will be based on financial need and academic achievement.

Julie Dimperio Holowach Scholarship Fund
Recognized for her unique ability to bring out the best in others, the Julie Dimperio Holowach Scholarship Fund honors Julie's legacy by supporting young women who exemplify her enthusiasm for life, generosity of spirit, dynamic leadership, and community engagement. A lifelong learner, inspiring mentor, and valued friend, Julie uniquely touched the lives of all knew her. This scholarship supports graduating seniors at Mt. Ararat High School who have demonstrated the academic, social, and extracurricular skills to suggest success at a four-year college or university. Eligible students will be those who have been active in their communities (family, school, town, etc.), approach challenges with enthusiasm and determination, are supportive of others, and support equal rights for all. Financial need will also be considered when making awards.

Mary Jane Dunning Krause Scholarship Fund
Michael C. Kucsma Jr. Fire Science Scholarship Fund
The friends and family of Michael established this fund in 2024 to support students participating in Southern Maine Community College’s Fire Science Program. There is a preference for those who are enrolled in the live-in program.

The Milton S. McKeen, Jr. Scholarship Fund was established in 2019 to provide scholarship support to students from Bridgton, ME who have graduated from Lake Region High School and are seeking post-secondary education

Jessica Ann Herrick, Misty Renee Cote & Michaela Lee Herrick Memorial Scholarship
Established in 1992 by family and friends of these three young women, this memorial fund provides scholarships to two graduating seniors at Bonny Eagle High School pursuing post-secondary education in veterinary science or foreign studies, and to one graduating senior at the Greater Portland Christian School with a preference for those pursuing post-secondary education in the performing arts or communications.

John S. and Marjoria R. Cunningham Scholarship Fund
The John S. and Marjoria R. Cunningham Scholarship Fund was established in 1999 to provide scholarship support to a graduating senior of Gray/New Gloucester High School. The scholarship may be renewed during the course of recipient’s college education. Preference will be given to applicants who are goal oriented, have financial need, and show academic potential. Students may attend a two-year community college or a four-year college or university.

Joshua Kuck Scholarship Fund
This scholarship was established by the family, friends and admirers of Joshua Kuck, a 2003 graduate of Cape Elizabeth High School. Josh was a kind and fun-loving young man, with an insatiable appetite for knowledge and adventure. Passionate about living life to its fullest, he followed his heart wherever it led him, and he was always looking for the next new experience. In the company of well-chosen, close friends, Josh enjoyed participating in team sports such as lacrosse and water polo but was equally as happy at pursuits such as bicycling and skiing.
This fund celebrates Josh’s life and gives the opportunity for another Cape Elizabeth High School graduate in good academic standing to pursue a college education. Eligible applicants must demonstrate compassion for peers and members of a broader community, have an adventurous spirit and be not afraid to stand alone in their choices, and passionately pursue an activity or path that promotes self-improvement.

The Higgins Scholarship Fund provides scholarship support to graduates of Cape Elizabeth High School who are pursuing post-secondary education at a college, university or community college.

Kenneth M. Roberts Scholarship Fund
The Kenneth M. Roberts Scholarship Fund supports graduates of Yarmouth High School pursuing post-secondary education at a two- or four-year college. Preference will be given to a graduate who has demonstrated an exemplary commitment to excellence in curricular and extracurricular endeavors and who shows promise and interest in making a positive difference in the lives of others through education, coaching or public service.

Kevin Brady Memorial Fund
The Kevin Brady Memorial Fund was established to honor Kevin’s memory and celebrate the qualities with which Kevin approached the game of soccer and life. Kevin will be remembered for his unmistakable presence, creative sense of humor, and free spirit. The fund provides support towards a post-secondary education to one male and one female member of the graduating class at Cape Elizabeth High School who participated in the school's soccer program.

Larry Blouin Memorial Scholarship Fund
This fund was established in 1999 in Larry’s memory to encourage and support those who embody his interests and spirit. Larry was an active participant in his community, particularly with the Gorham Fire Department. He had hoped to become a firefighter one day. The Fund supports the Gorham Fire Department with preference for the College-Live-In Program; and current employees of Fresh Samantha who were with the company as of May 29, 1999, when the Fund was established, and who are residents of Maine.

Leland R. Dahlgren Scholarship Fund
This Fund was established in 1999 by the family and friends of Leland R. Dahlgren. The fund provides scholarship assistance to graduates of Washburn District High School (Aroostook County) and Yarmouth High School (Cumberland County) with a strong preference for students who plan to pursue a course of study in the building trades--including earthwork, HVAC, electrical, architecture, mechanical or structural engineering, carpentry, masonry, and plumbing--at a two- or four-year college or university.

The Major Mary J. Olssen Scholarship Fund was established in 2016 to provide scholarship assistance to graduating seniors who are pursuing a certificate or degree program in a health-related field.

Marion E. Lord Scholarship Fund
This scholarship was established in 2021 to provide assistance to one or more graduates of Sacopee Valley High School who live in the towns of Porter, Parsonsfield, and Hiram, generally known as Kezar Falls, who are pursuing post-secondary education.

O. William Robertson Scholarship Fund
The O. William Robertson Scholarship Fund was established to provide scholarship assistance to graduating seniors at Windham High School, or its successor agency, with a preference for students with demonstrated financial need who are pursuing post-secondary education at a University of Maine or Maine Community College System institution.

Percival P. Baxter Foundation Scholarship Funds
MaineCF partners with the Percival P. Baxter Foundation to offer the Bryan MacFarlane and Billy Brackett Memorial Scholarships for Deaf/deaf or hard of hearing Maine students pursuing continuing education. Continuing education includes universities, community colleges, and technology centers.

Philip P. Thompson Jr. Scholarship Fund
Philip P. Thompson Jr. was born in 1917 and lived to be 102. He grew up in Portland and graduated from Portland High School. He then went on to Dartmouth College and Dartmouth Medical School and started his own medical practice in Portland after the war. He became interested in Casco Bay High School when one of his granddaughters went there as one of its early students. Having always lived his life as an experiential learner, he immediately saw the benefits and uniqueness of CBHS and wanted to support its graduates. Through his bequest, he established this scholarship to support Casco Bay High School and his alma maters, Dartmouth College and Dartmouth Medical school. The purpose of this scholarship fund is to support graduates of Casco Bay High School who are pursuing post-secondary education at Dartmouth College or the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth.

Ralph C. and Marion B. Goff Memorial Scholarship Fund
The Goff Scholarship was established in 1993 to provide support to graduates of Bonny Eagle High School, with preference given to residents of Hollis and Buxton and/or students pursuing agricultural, business or vocational education.

This fund was established in 2021 to provide an annual college scholarship to a deserving senior at Deering High School who has strong interests in science or engineering.

This award was established by former students of Mr. Small to honor and reward graduating seniors at Westbrook High School for their achievement in math by providing scholarship support for their post-secondary education. Students are nominated by the faculty.

Rangeley Region Guides & Sportsmen Scholarship Fund was established to award scholarships to graduates of local high schools who have gone through the Junior Guides program.

Ray Jones Memorial Scholarship Fund
The Ray Jones Memorial Scholarship Fund supports graduating seniors at Portland High School who are active members of the school community through their participation in either hockey or the arts. Preference will be given to hardworking students with average grades who have a strong record of community service.

Reverend Richard D. Bertrand SJ Scholarship Fund
The Reverend Richard D. Bertrand SJ Scholarship Fund was established to provide scholarship assistance to students attending Cheverus High School who are first generation immigrant students and/or from the Spanish-speaking community of Greater Portland.

Reynolds E. Moulton Family Student Athlete Achievement Award
The Reynolds E. Moulton Family Student Athlete Achievement Award was established in 2000 by Reynolds E. Moulton, Jr. The fund provides scholarship assistance to graduating seniors of Cape Elizabeth High School who plan to attend a four-year college or university and have demonstrated outstanding athletic and academic ability, including above-average academic performance.

RIPP - Rippleffect Dennis Farrell Scholarship Fund
The Maine Community Foundation partners with Rippleffect to provide scholarships to youth for the purposes of participating in Rippleffect. Participants are eligible based on need resulting from economic, ethnic, or any other social barriers.

Stephanie Bernath Memorial Scholarship Fund
This fund provides scholarships to graduating female seniors of Scarborough High School in memory of Stephanie Bernath, an alumna who died in a tragic car accident in 1999. Applicants must have a grade point average of at least 84/100; demonstrated athletic ability and/or a passion for a non-competitive sport, such as mountain climbing or horseback riding; and a demonstrated interest in community service.

Stephen Gordon Ward Memorial Fund
The Stephen Gordon Ward Memorial Fund was established in the memory of Stephen, a 1986 graduate of Gorham High School and co-captain of the basketball team, who was killed at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. This fund provides scholarship support to graduates of Gorham High School who are pursuing post-secondary education. Awards will be made based on academic promise, record of leadership and participation and contribution to a sports team while at school.

Stephen L. Ross Scholarship Fund
The Stephen L. Ross Scholarship Fund was established in memory of Stephen L. Ross, son of Lewis and Geraldine Ross and resident of Chebeague Island, killed in an automobile accident in 1964. The fund provides scholarship support to obtain education or training beyond high school to a graduating high school senior or a student enrolled in the first year of post-secondary education or training. Applicants must have been residents of Chebeague Island for at least six consecutive months preceding May 1 of the year for which an award is sought. In 2014 the Board of Directors voted to establish a special award honoring the service of long time fund president, Kenneth Hamilton. The Kenneth Hamilton Education Award will be awarded from time to time for those students entering the field of education, in their 3rd or 4th year of post-secondary education.

Ted and Audrey Rand Memorial Scholarship Fund
The Ted and Audrey Rand Memorial Scholarship Fund supports graduating seniors at Portland High School from the Casco Bay islands including Peaks, Little Diamond, Great Diamond, Long, Chebeague and Cliff Islands. Recipients will be students who demonstrate a sense of civic responsibility, strong moral character, a solid work ethic, participation in extra-curricular or community activities, high academic achievement, and financial need.

This scholarship supports residents of Chebeague Island who have financial need.

William P. Flaherty Scholarship Fund
William P. Flaherty was a 1939 graduate of Cheverus High School and played on its varsity basketball team. He was known among his friends as an extremely avid golfer. The William P. Flaherty Scholarship Fund was established by his son in 2024 to provide scholarship support to the graduating senior with the highest class rank who played on the Cheverus High School varsity basketball team during their senior year. There is no application for this scholarship; awards are based on academic merit and participation on either the girls’ or boys’ varsity basketball teams. The scholarship will be awarded beginning in 2025.

Woman's Literary Union Scholarship
The Woman’s Literary Union was founded in Portland in 1889 by Mrs. Eunice Frye as the Ladies Literary Union Club. The goal was to stimulate the intellectual and cultural life of members and to promote cooperation in the community. The name was changed in 1890. Over the years the club offered countless lectures, classes, programs and opportunities for community service, as well as a Youth Council. This fund benefits female graduates from high schools in the Greater Portland Area.
