Catharine Wilder Guiles Scholarship

This scholarship was established to provide scholarship assistance to encourage Maine-based professionals (including, but not limited to, nurses, counselors, and social workers) in the mental health field to obtain the best graduate level training possible at the University of Maine (Orono) and the University of Southern Maine.

Downeast Feline Fund

This scholarship was established in 1995 to support graduates of Maine high schools who are attending a veterinary school of medicine. Preference is for students in their third or fourth year. Awards will be made from the applicant pool of the Maine Veterinary Medical Association scholarships. There is no separate application process.

Guy P. Gannett Scholarship Fund

The Guy P. Gannett Scholarship Fund was established in 2000 by the Guy P. Gannett Foundation to provide renewable support for students majoring in journalism or a field reasonably related, including all forms of print, broadcast or electronic media. Recipients must be graduates of Maine high schools or home-schooled in a Maine community during their last year of secondary education. Students will be chosen based on demonstrated interest in journalism, financial need and academic achievement. The Guy P. Gannett Scholarship recognizes students who will become journalists. Their dedication to this profession is evident in their choice of coursework and extracurricular activities. Recipients are encouraged to apply for renewal consideration throughout their post-secondary and graduate education. As recipients progress through school, the Selection Committee expects to see a significant increase in demonstrated intent to pursue a career in journalism. Read about four Gannett Scholars here.

Kingsley Brown Educational Fund

The Kingsley Brown Educational Fund was established by the friends and family of Kingsley Alcid Brown to provide scholarship support at the graduate school level for graduates of high schools in Washington County. Applicants must be accepted into an accredited graduate degree program to receive an award.

Philip P. Thompson Jr. Scholarship Fund

Philip P. Thompson Jr. was born in 1917 and lived to be 102. He grew up in Portland, and graduated from Portland High School, and went on to Dartmouth College and Dartmouth Medical School. He started his own medical practice in Portland after the war. He became interested in Casco Bay High School when one of his granddaughters enrolled there as one of its earliest students. Having always lived his life as an experiential learner, he immediately saw the benefits and uniqueness of CBHS and wanted to support its graduates. Through his bequest, he established this scholarship to support Casco Bay High School and his alma maters, Dartmouth College and Dartmouth Medical school. The purpose of this scholarship fund is to support graduates of Casco Bay High School who are pursuing post-secondary education at Dartmouth College or the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth.
