MaineCF awards $217K to Aroostook County students

The Maine Community Foundation’s (MaineCF) awarded more than $217,000 to Aroostook County students through the Wendell S. Doody Memorial Scholarship Fund and the Sally Stetson Tongren Fund for Aroostook County.

Chelsea Hobbs of Perham and Noah Willette of Presque Isle received the Wendell S. Doody Scholarship and will attend Northern Maine Community College. The scholarship supports graduating seniors from Washburn District High School or Presque Isle High School attending a technical school or community college in Maine to pursue a trade such as electrician, plumber, welder or carpenter.

Sally Stetson Tongren Fund scholarships are available to graduating high school seniors and current college students who graduated from a high school in Aroostook County. The scholarship supports students pursuing undergraduate and graduate education, trade and technical education and post-secondary remedial education.

This year, 54 students were awarded scholarships totaling $216,750. Scholarship recipients include the following:
