Deadline to contribute to Lewiston-Auburn Area Response Fund is Feb. 20

February 2, 2024

The deadline to contribute to the Maine Community Foundation’s (MaineCF) Lewiston-Auburn Area Response Fund is Tuesday, Feb. 20. To date, the fund has received more than $5 million in contributions.

“The Maine Community Foundation is grateful for the outpouring of support from more than 2,000 donors across the world,” President and CEO Deborah Ellwood said. “While these contributions cannot dull pain of this terrible tragedy, we hope they can help ease the burden on victims, families and the broader community.”

The fund was established on Oct. 27, 2023, as a tax and fee-free fund to which people can contribute to support victims, families and the community impacted by the tragic mass shootings at Schemengees Bar & Grille and Just-In-Time Recreation in Lewiston.

A deadline for contributions is necessary for the fund’s steering committees to allocate contributions in a timely manner to victims, families and nonprofit organizations.

Donations can be made at www.mainecf.org/lewiston or by mail to: Lewiston-Auburn Area Response Fund, Maine Community Foundation, 245 Main St., Ellsworth, ME 04605. Donations by mail must be postmarked by Feb. 20.

Within the fund, there are two ways to direct contributions: to victims and families or to the broader recovery effort. All funds will be distributed in accordance with the protocols finalized by the funds’ steering committees.
