Season Two of "Maine Ties" premieres with a look at how MaineCF grantees are combating food insecurity from Aroostook County to York County.

Maine ranks near the top for the highest food insecurity rates in the country.

Food prices have spiked amid record inflation, straining wallets and household budgets.

Financial hardship is among one challenge facing food distribution organizations in Maine.

In Aroostook County, the vast distance from one end of the county to the other can make food distribution difficult. But Dixie Shaw of Catholic Charities of Maine has spent 35 years facing it head on.

Katie Brown, co-founder of Youth Full Maine in York County, helps children and families get fresh meals.
