MaineCF’s Welch Charitable Fund recently awarded more than $283,000 to 16 organizations that serve Greater Portland. The fund supports nonprofit organizations that assist people in need in with preference to those that focus on youth, education, health care, substance abuse recovery, and/or arts and culture. The fund was established as a private foundation in 1983 and transferred to the community foundation in 2010.
