MaineCF's Community Building Grants Program, awarded $2,500 to the Men’s Resource Center of Southern Maine (MRC) to support a leadership-training seminar. The seminar, known as Male Peace, is designed to inspire and support men in the promotion of peaceful relationships and the discovery of new ways to handle anger and issues of intimacy.

Following the leadership training program, MRC presented Male Peace awards to four members of the community for their important work in the lives of men and boys.

They were Bruce Webber, an area social worker in the mental health field; Tom Allen, social worker and treatment coordinator at Mercy Hospital Recovery Center; Ned Chester, an advocate of juveniles living in the Long Creek Youth Center; and Layne Gregory, co-founder of the annual Boys to Men conference.

The Men’s Resource Center of Southern Maine is a non-profit program committed to supporting men, boys and fathers, and opposing violence.
