Additional Grant Programs

MaineCF has a number of funds that make grants within specific interest areas. Grant sizes, deadlines, and priorities vary for each fund. Please review the detailed guidelines for each program for more information.

The Belvedere Historic Presrvation Grant Program, in partnership with Maine Historic Preservation Commission’s New Century Grant Program, is offering grants to support the preservation or restoration of historic buildings, primarily in Washington and Hancock counties and in under-resourced rural communities in other parts of the state.

The King & Jean Cummings Charitable Trust Fund seeks to support programs in the arts, education, economic development, the environment, and cultural preservation in geographic areas where King Cummings lived, worked and/or had an interest, including Franklin County, Somerset County, Piscataquis County, Washington County, Newport and Islesboro. Exceptions will be given to proposals for projects having statewide impact or impact on broader regions of the State.

The Edward H. Daveis Benevolent Fund supports nonprofits in the greater Portland area undertaking projects that benefit the communities of the region.

The Equity Fund's mission is to strengthen lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) organizations in Maine and support community-based initiatives that address LGBTQ issues and needs.

The Fund for Maine Land Conservation supports projects that promote collaboration, resource sharing and, if appropriate, mergers of land trusts. It also supports projects that promote collaboration among land trusts, municipalities, watershed groups, and other nonprofit organizations whose work is focused on land conservation, stewardship, and smart growth.

The Hospice Fund supports hospice services in southern Maine, in particular by funding programs that support volunteer and bereavement services in Cumberland and York Counties.

The Maine Charity Foundation Fund was established in 1921 to receive and hold individual charitable funds and distribute the income for charitable purposes in the state.

The Maine Expansion Arts Fund supports indigenous, ethnic, or rural arts programs or projects, particularly those that serve areas with limited access to arts events.

The Maine Steeples Project supports local efforts to preserve church steeples of historic, cultural, and community significance to communities in Maine.

The Maine Theater Fund supports both professional and community theaters in the production and presentation of live theater.

The Leonard and Renee Minsky Fund for Arts Education to encourage teachers in grades three through five to work with professional artists to bring the arts into the classroom and, in addition, to integrate a variety of art forms into the standard curriculum.

The Peaks Island Fund benefits the community of Peaks Island and its residents by supporting the work of local nonprofits and responding to the emerging needs of the island. Priority is given to efforts to bring Peaks Island residents together to improve life on Peaks.

The People of Color Fund assists people of color in Maine to achieve greater equity by investing in the development of existing, new and emerging leadership; supporting organizations that serve communities of color; and assisting communities and individuals of color to affect systemic change.

The Penobscot Valley Health Association Fund primarily supports grassroots organizations and start-up projects that propose ways to strengthen the health and welfare of the greater Bangor community.

The PF Fund for the Baldwin Area is geared toward funding projects which focus on efforts to bring Baldwin together. The intent is that the relationships formed will provide the context for long-term conversations about improving life in Baldwin.

The Rines/Thompson Fund's grantmaking is focused on improving the welfare of the citizens of greater Portland, with particular interest given to programs that promote community and economic development, cultural enrichment, diversity, neighborhood and urban revitalization, youth, mediation, and social service.

The Rose and Samuel Rudman Library Trust provides grants to libraries serving communities in Maine that have a population of less than 10,000 and are located in Aroostook, Hancock, Knox, Penobscot, Piscataquis, Waldo, or Washington counties.

The York County Committee of the Maine Community Foundation is now making grants from the York Children's Aid Society Fund through the County & Regional Program.
