First Montgomery Scholarships Awarded Benefitting Students in Franklin County

The first scholarships have been made from the Hugh and Elizabeth Montgomery Scholarship at the Maine Community Foundation.

This renewable scholarship supports non-traditional (beyond high school age) students from Franklin County returning to school to continue their education.

Scholarships totaling $2,700 were made to six different students attending Kennebec Valley Community College and the University of Maine at Farmington.

The next deadline for Montgomery Scholarship applications August 15, 2007.

The Maine Community Foundation is partnering with the Franklin County Community College Network to make this scholarship available to eligible students from the county.

Residents of Phillips, Maine, Hugh and Elizabeth (Betty) Montgomery believed in accessible, affordable post-secondary education. This fund was established through a bequest of Mrs. Montgomery.
