Steve Rowe, of Portland, is the fifth president of the Maine Community Foundation. Prior to that, he was president of the Endowment for Health, a private foundation dedicated to improving the health of New Hampshire residents. He previously served as counsel at the Portland-based law firm of Verrill Dana, LLP. He was Maine Attorney General from 2001- 2009 and Speaker of the Maine House of Representatives in 1999-2000. His overall legislative career spanned the years 1992 to 2000. Rowe was an officer in the United States Army. He holds a J.D. from the University of Maine School of Law; an M.B.A. from the University of Utah Graduate School of Business; and a B.S. from the United States Military Academy at West Point.
