'Seeing White'

John Biewen, creator of the “Seeing White” documentary radio series, and his regular guest Dr. Chenjerai Kumanyika spoke about Northern racism, whiteness, and radio documentary on February 10, 2018, in an event co-sponsored by the community foundation. Biewen, audio program director at the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University, explored the notion of “whiteness” in a 14-part radio series for his Scene On Radio podcast. Kumanyika is a researcher, journalist, and artist who works as an assistant professor in the Rutgers University Department of Journalism and Media Studies. His research and teaching focus on the intersections of social justice and emerging media in cultural and creative industries.
